Therapy typically starts with a conversation about problematic symptoms and behaviours that impact your day to day functioning. We will work together to identify some goals that you would like to work on. Please keep in mind, therapy depends on your willingness and ability apply yourself both inside and outside of the therapeutic space. Therapy is not an easy process and at times you may feel uncomfortable.
Having an authentic relationship with your therapist is vital to the therapeutic process. Not every therapist is a fit, if at any point you feel you are not connecting with your therapist, please let us know so we can address your concerns or refer you to a therapist who may be a better fit.
Therapy sessions can be weekly, biweekly, monthly, or yearly depending on your specific needs and goals.
We make use of a secure, web-based practice management system to store and manage our client records. This includes information such as client appointments, billing documents, session notes, contact details, and other client-related information and documents. The system we use is encrypted, has servers exclusively owned and operated privately, and access to the system is granted only on an as-needed basis and governed by our strict confidentiality policy. Additionally, all practice data in the system is routinely backed up to ensure the privacy and protection of sensitive client information and to assist us with PHIPA compliance.
While we try to remain paperless, some forms may be kept in a locked filing cabinet in a locked room.
As required by law, your records will be kept for 10 years, at which time they can then be destroyed. The files of minors will be kept until they reach 18 years of age or for 10 years (whichever is longer).
